STAR MAPS

STAR MAPS

This is a real map of the nearest stars within 50 light years of Earth.
Using current stellar data, I used an excel program to change Right Ascension, Declination and Distance data from degrees into XYZ coordinates.

The naming convention for each star is:
STAR NAME / PLANET NAME
X, Y, Z Coordinates (Light Years)

Example:
HD 69830 / Pleione
-22.73, 32.94, -8.97

HD 69830 (285 G. Puppis) is a yellow dwarf star located 41.0 light-years (12.6 parsecs) away in the constellation of Puppis.

Pleione is the fictitious name I assigned to the main planet in the star system.
When writing my stories, I try to include real stellar data, including new planets which we may have discovered in the star systems.

The symbols in the corners are used in CHINESE ASTRONOMY to divide the heavens into six regions:

  • Vermillion Bird of the South
  • Azure Dragon of the East
  • White Tiger of the West
  • Black Tortoise of the North
  • Purple Forbidden Enclosure (Up)
  • Southern Asterisms (Down)

Here is the same map without the names from my IMPERIUM stories.
